Professionalism - Pet Grief (1.5 CE Hrs)

Did you know that nearly all State Board cases of unprofessional conduct involve communications issues? Because euthanasia is a highly emotional procedure, the words and actions (or inactions) of veterinarians and their staff take on heightened sensitivity. This session will help veterinarians and technicians understand grief, display empathy, and communicate support. By understanding the levels of grief, the veterinary staff is better prepared for the complexities of euthanasia. This course will show you how to create a better environment for the patient and client. By knowing what to say, and what not to say, you can turn an emotional moment into something that a client will look back on with confidence in knowing that they did “the right thing” for their beloved pet.
